We finally watched the latest Spider-Man movie. Holy. Shitballs. What an awesome take on such a mistreated franchise. I now regret not being able to see it in theaters, but that is a mistake I won’t be repeating if/when they make a sequel. Andrew Garfield, my hat is off to you. You embodied the Spider-Man I, and I think many other geeks, always envisioned. Sarcastic, cocky, suave when he tried, but still geeky, awkward, and misunderstood.
The effects were sometimes a bit over the top, but they felt true to the Spider-Man cartoon that I grew up on, and the effects surrounding Conner’s Lizard form were superb.
Overall, I recommend giving it a shot if you haven’t seen it already.
What does it say about me that Goldeneye remains one of my favorite of the Bond movies?
Admittedly, this is probably due to my age; it was my first Bond movie, and the N64 tie-in is likely the video game i have the most hours in playing, even after a decade of the Halo franchise.
Holy crap this is insane. And very NSFW.
I want to see this simply because of Terrance Howard’s scenes….LMFAO…
The Dark Knight Rises was awesome. I applaud the decision to go with IMAX but not 3D. What a ride.
I’m holding any other thoughts until after a second viewing (probably non-IMAX). Or maybe after the third viewing (it was that good).
Skyfall, Bourne Legacy, and Hobbit trailers all were top-notch too. I have a hard time deciding which I’m most excited about.
Movie Trailer of the Day: Liam Neeson is back for more shooting and gruff instruction via cell phone in Taken 2, from director Olivier Megaton and producer/co-writer Luc Besson. They may take his wife, but they’ll never take his freedom. To shoot them.
Also starring Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen, and Rade Sherbedgia, the film is out October 5.
Liam Neeson has made the same basic movie about five times in a row now. And I’ll keep seeing each and every one of them until he stops making them.
As will I.
Really looking forward to this one. They’re trying to transition the Bourne franchise beyond Matt Damon, and it looks like they might pull it off (by moving on from Jason Bourne). If they can, the Bourne films could become the American equivalent of the James Bond franchise.
Agreed. And what about Jeremy Renner? SWAT, The Hurt Locker, MI:4, Thor, Avengers, all of which he was terrific in. Now Bourne, a series that helped Matt Damon secure his place as an action star. Renner is getting a larger and larger profile, its awesome that he finally gets a leading role in a franchise with such potential.
With no writer’s strike to screw this one up, this promises to be a great flick.
This goes beyond looking good and into the realm of awesome. When I was still in my teens, i thought Tobey’s Spiderman was good. It doesnt hold up well; I can not bear to watch any of those movies today. This looks much more refined and based on the dialog in the trailer, we get to see the sarcastic, cocky, funny Spiderman, instead of the moody, sulky, emo Spiderman we got for the first trilogy. Andrew was great casting for the title role, and Emma Stone has been awesome in everything I have seen her in.
