Link The Most-Watched (Non-Cable) Cable Network

parislemon:

Peter Kafka for AllThingsD:

Good news for Netflix! The company streamed more than 4 billion hours of video in the first three months of the year, according to a Facebook post from CEO Reed Hastings.

BTIG analyst Rich Greenfield crunches those numbers (registration required), and concludes that this makes Netflix the equivalent of the most-watched cable TV network: He figures there are 28 million U.S. Netflix subscribers watching an average of 87 minutes of Netflix per day, or 43 hours per month. That puts it on par with the Disney Channel.

The future continues to reveal itself.

And HBO doesn’t think it’s original content has a place in the digital distribution ecosystem. What a shame.

Justified: "Get Drew"

  • Chief Deputy Art Mullen: First thing we're going to do is we are going to acknowledge that this guy is awesome.
  • Deputy Brooks: What?!
  • Art: I mean, he shoots Theo Tonin. Fakes his own death in a spectacular fashion. Pushes a guy out of an airplane *while* he's flying it. Parachutes into Harlan County with enough coke and cash to jumpstart the economy of a small country. And *then* he has the balls to get a job in law enforcement, not once, but *two times*. He spends a couple of days riding around with you [points to Raylan], *while you're looking for him*. And now he's run off with a hooker that's half his age. That's some badass shit.
  • Raylan: That's pretty badass.
  • Art: Yes it is!
This may sound silly, but I had to stifle tears when we wrote the last scene of tonight’s episode. The same thing happened when we rehearsed it. And then again when it was performed in front of a studio audience. And yet again when we watched the final version in an editing bay. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something primal, something deeply human being expressed when these characters unconsciously hold hands while watching their friend embark on a monumental journey. Speaking of which, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for watching The Big Bang Theory, for being part of our journey. I hope you’ve laughed a lot and stifled a little. I hope you’re holding someone’s hand. See you next year.

Chuck Lorre Vanity Card #389

Its sad (and a little scary) to me that they just concluded Season 5 of The Big Bang Theory. I consider it the new Friends and one of the most consistently funny shows I’ve ever seen. I’m hoping we get another five years. Its pretty awesome knowing that we have at least another two.
